Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Q: Are payments secure?
A: Absolutely! I use Stripe for payment processing. Stripe is an industry leader in online payment processing.
  • Q: How does the pricing work? What does it mean when you say $X/mo is the lowest it'll ever be?
A: Great question! Basically, as new features are added and subscriber count grows, the price is going to go up, but only for NEW subscribers. The founding subscribers pay $1, always. But for those that subscribe later, it may be $2/mo, $3/mo, and so on. The idea is to always be fair to the early supporters (unlike some notable video streaming services 👀) - for the life of your subscription, your price will never change.
  • Q: What dealerships and websites are the cars sourced from?
A: I'm adding new sources all the time, with an initial focus on balancing between niche enthusiast sites (like Rennlist), popular auction sites (like CarsAndBids & BringATrailer), and larger, more mainstream sites like cars.com. The initial release started with 5 sources, but the goal has been to add one more to that list every week following the initial public launch.
  • Q: What's the difference between this and the blog?
A: The blog/newsletter is totally different from the subscription service. It used to be where I shared random interesting cars he found online, but now is where he announces updates to the subscription service (plus occasionally sharing cool cars I find online too). If you subscribe to the listings emails, you'll automatically be added to the newsletter so I have an easy way to let you know when there are new features!
  • Q: Do you ever miss car listings?
A: Most of the time, we catch everything from the previous day that a source site has listed. There are some situations where we might miss something though, so I'll name a few! 1) If you are signed up for a more common vehicle, the chances are higher there have been too many listings for MaxFindsCars to capture over the last 24 hours which could cause some to be missed. 2) If there is a typo in the make or model name, MaxFindsCars likely won't be able to find the vehicle you're looking for. 3) If our sources handle specific makes, models, and trims in funky ways or change something without our knowing, this can also lead to rare misses or listings you don't expect coming through. As always, I'm working to improve MaxFindsCars all the time, so while its not perfect, it's getting better every day!
  • Q: I subscribed, but I am not seeing emails. What gives?
A: Your first email will arrive the morning after you subscribed. If you don't see it, check your spam folder! And make sure to add cars@maxfindscars.com & max@maxfindscars.com to your email contacts to make sure it doesn't end up there again.
  • Q: It seems like my listings are being cut off at the end, what's the deal?
A: Sometimes, if there are too many new listings in a day, your email provider will not load the whole email at once. You should see a button at the bottom to view the whole thing.
  • Q: When am I getting new features?
A: I work on adding new features every day, but some of them can take a little while. Keep your eyes on the Road Map and look for updates (on Twitter or via email from max@maxfindscars.com).
  • Q: What do the emails look like?
A: They'll look pretty similar to this example email! Unfortunately, different email providers will render the same emails differently, so it might look a bit different for you.
  • Q: How do I unsubscribe?
A: No unsubscribe hijinks here. Just go to the account management page and click 'Update Payment Info'!
